Whole Vanilla Beans

Whole vanilla beans from Madagascar.  Each bean measures 14 to 19 cm.  Each order contains 10 whole beans in one 600 ml Weck jar.

When using vanilla beans, we prefer to use whole beans and keep them stored in a glass jar filled with vodka. The vodka softens the beans, and the alcohol helps to preserve them. You could use another spirit, such as brandy, but we prefer vodka for of its neutral flavor. Whenever we need to use vanilla in a recipe, rather than tediously scraping the seeds out, we simply snip the bean in half and squeeze out the vanilla paste.  The vanilla infused vodka can also be used in place of vanilla extract.
